Induction of Newly Appointed Grade I Magistrates
The Hon. Chief Justice Bart Katureebe addresses newlt appointed Grade I Magistrates at the opening of a 2 week induction at Judicial Studies Institute

The Hon. Chief Justice Bart, Hon.\r\nJustice Bart Katureebe expressed fear about the environment the Judiciary\r\nis working in.

\r\n\r\n

While opening 2-week induction\r\ntraining for 57 newly recruited Grade I Magistrates at Judicial Studies\r\nInstitute in Nakawa, Hon. Justice Katureebe said the Judiciary has a challenge\r\nof meeting peoples’ expectations about its work.

\r\n\r\n

According to Hon. Justice Katureebe,\r\npeople (litigants and other court users) don’t expect them to make mistakes,\r\nthough making a mistake is normal to every human being. "As judicial officers,\r\nwe are out there in a glass cage; people don’t expect us to make mistakes,” Hon.\r\nJustice Katureebe said.

\r\n\r\n

Hon. Justice Katureebe however, urged\r\nthe Magistrates to administer justice while giving out their rulings to ensure\r\nthat all parties are satisfied.

\r\n\r\n

Supreme Court Justice, Hon. Lady\r\nJustice Esther Kisakye who is also the chairperson of the Judicial Training Committee urged the new magistrates to pay more attention to victims of crime,\r\nand help the litigants feel more comfortable in court since many of them are\r\nappearing for the first time.
